No one will have to dodge raindrops at the Velux booth. Their No Leak Skylight line features three layers of water protection, including a new gasket that seals to the roof deck. Other hot features include their advanced LoE3 glass for better energy efficiency, higher visible light transmittance, and improved solar heat gain performance. www.velux.com
According to Caroma, their Profile Smart fixture is a dual-flush toilet with an integrated sink that combines water efficiency, space saving, superior flush performance, and smart design in one unit. The toilet averages just under 0.9 gpf, but the water savings are enhanced because it uses gray water from the sink. Look for live demonstrations of Caroma's dual flush action in the booth. www.caromausa.comExcel Dryer • Booth 3444

DECRA Roofing Systems will introduce a new direct-to-deck stone coated steel roofing system, DECRA Shake XD. The product combines the classic beauty of a thick, rustic, handsplit wood shake with the durability and longevity of steel. The product is available in two color styles: Antique Chestnut and Pinnacle Grey. www.decra.com
Kirei will introduce Chocolate Bamboo, a new color option that adds a traditional shade to their existing palette. The color is achieved through a deep carbonizing process which produces a rich, dark color that is uniform throughout the wear layer, as opposed to just being a surface stain. Kirei bamboo panels are ideal for applications such as wall covering, cabinetry, and interior millwork. Kirei uses low-or no-added urea formaldehyde adhesive for the production of the panels. www.kireiusa.com

The lighting may be softer at the MechoShade booth, thanks to their new EcoVeil Naturals Shadecloth Series, a new eco-friendly window covering with a softer hand and more natural look than traditional solar screens. Naturals feature a highly-textured jacquard weave in neutral colors, which echo the look of traditional window coverings in natural reeds, grasses, and woven woods. The EcoVeil line is Greenguard Certified, Greenguard for Children & Schools certified, and Cradle-to-Cradle certified. www.mechoshadesystems.com
Accoya Wood utilizes a new non-toxic wood treatment technology that increases hardness, durability, and resistance to mold and predatory insects. At the same time, the wood is more dimensionally stable and significantly less at risk from damage caused by exposure to rain, snow, and sunlight. Accoya wood can be used for virtually any purpose, from windows to doors, decking to architectural cladding, and even for applications which are presently the preserve of non-sustainable materials such as steel and plastic. The wood itself is FSC certified and the treatment is non-toxic and VOC free, so the product is eligible for LEED credits in as many as 3 categories. www.accoya.info
At the Collins booth you can get your hands on their new Pacific Albus, a western hardwood that's considered ideal for a variety of uses including moulding and millwork, cut stock, furniture applications, pallet stock, landscape timbers, and more. The product is lightweight, straight grain, medium/fine texture with a very light color. Paint, stains, and enamels adhere and hold well. Pacific Albus is ideal for machining, gluing, sanding, boring, and turning. Because it is tree farm grown, the quality of the product is consistent, uniform, and always available. Pacific Albus is certified under the FSC Plantation Standards. www.collinswood.com
Contact will display some stunning examples of their profile veneer wrap moulding, which is available in FSC certified stock. But by utilizing high-value veneer only on the visible surfaces and using lower grade, sustainable material for a substrate, Contact wrapped veneers can extend pricier solid wood resources by as much as 50 times, compared to using solid wood for the same application. You probably won't see many examples of this at their booth, but Contact can even produce seamless mouldings up to 36 feet in length. www.contactind.com
FSC remains the most credible wood accreditation process through a combination of its high standards on sustainable forest management and its well-managed 3rd party certification and chain of custody processes. To date, FSC is the only wood certification process recognized for LEED credits – although the USGBC continues to reassess that status. Visitors to the FSC booth can learn how to become Chain of Custody certified, and can also learn where to find certified wood. www.fscus.orgArchived Content:
